“...[Building Three] is still the most beautiful headquarters that I’ve ever seen and we certainly couldn’t have done it without you.”

Here’s the story:
Southern Progress, publisher of Southern Living, Cooking Light, Coastal Living and other periodicals, constructed a three phase corporate campus between 1985 and 2005. Building Three is a five story, 170,000 SF structure that provides the flexible office space and vibrant connection to nature so vital to the company’s creative corporate culture.
The heart of the design is a five story atrium and open, monumental stair, all overlooking a densely wooded ravine. Both are intended to make a clear connection between the working environment and nature. It also creates socially interactive spaces. Southern Progress specifically credits their facilities for opening up serendipitous exchanges between staff that raise the quality level of their publications.
Casual conference tables are included on each level in the atrium. The atrium then spills out into the wooded ravine with gracious stairs and extensive outdoor seating areas. This project is the previous experience of Mr. Robinson. It earned an AIA Excellence Award, the highest level of design recognition by the Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
